Gift Phones of CARE
A mobile phone is more than a gadget; for someone in a crisis, it is a lifeline to employment, medical care, and housing applications. Providing these for a 6-month "bridge" term is a strategic way to help someone move from crisis to stability.
Here is a guide on how to structure and execute a 6-Month Mobile Lifeline program.
1. The Strategy: The "6-Month Bridge"
A 6-month term is often the "sweet spot" for someone transitioning out of homelessness or a domestic crisis. It provides enough time to:
Receive callbacks from job applications.
Communicate with social workers or housing locators.
Secure permanent government benefits (like Lifeline).
We also provide phone cards to some qualifying individuals.
They are an excellent way to provide flexibility, especially for those who already have a device but have lost their service due to financial hardship.
